Seeking a Communications Director with 10+ years in public relations, marketing, or communications experience. This candidate should have International business experience. This role will create written and verbal messaging presentations and other communication tools including publication of quarterly newsletter, email alerts/updates, power point presentations, website contacts, and annual meeting materials.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create written and verbal messaging presentations and other communication tools including publication of quarterly newsletter, email alerts/updates, power point presentations, website contacts, and annual meeting materials
  • Work with the Technical Director, Sector Leads and Dairy Ambassadors to prepare position statements and/or communication messages emerging from the various work programs of GDP.
  • Supervise the management of tracking and monitoring activities of industry communications programs, market research, and industry initiatives.
  • Develop initiatives to share market research and market campaign information between GDP members.
  • Manage projects and strategic initiatives in conjunction with the GDP/IMP Taskforce.
  • Develop regular communications with members via newsletters and web announcements to keep continuous engagement with GDP

Member Communication and Support

  • Provide coordination materials, as well as support and council member organizations to fully extend and maximize industry communications activities
  • Develop and provide leadership to a GDP network as a means of arriving at global industry consensus. In particular, to develop working groups and action teams from within the membership of GDP.
  • Creative interaction using electronic media.
  • Manage the efficient coordination of all member activities communications materials
  • Share information and strategies with communications personnel from member organizations
  • Handle media inquiries
  • Manage interaction with strategic groups supporting GDP business plan.

Maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of the dairy industry

  • Monitor key industry publications for information relative to the industry trends, issues and news
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with key industry media on other industry representatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field
  • 10+ years in public relations, marketing, or communications experience
  • Prior experience in the livestock sector (ideally dairy) an advantage
  • International business experience is a requirement

  • Must be willing to travel internationally a few times per year
